Madisonville High School

Honors English III

Welcome to Honors English III.  I am looking forward to the upcoming school year.  There are a few things that you should be aware of regarding this class.  First of all, this is a READING INTENSIVE class.  We will READ five major works this year, and you will be required to complete a significant amount of reading outside of class.  As advanced students, I expect you to complete your reading assignments at home and come to class prepared to discuss what you have read. If you know you will be absent, you must get all reading assignments prior to leaving campus.  Secondly, we will WRITE, WRITE, WRITE about what we have read.  Every test will have a writing component and we will write at least one formal essay every nine weeks.  Lastly, everyone participates in this class.  Class discussion is a requirement as discussion ensures that you understand the material we are covering.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

I am looking forward to a great year!
