Painting Senior Parking Spots
For seniors who have paid to personalize their parking spots, painting opportunities will be available on July 28 and 29 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Please adhere to the following guidelines for a safe and successful painting experience:
- Bring a broom or brush to clean your designated space prior to painting or taping.
- Bring your own trash bag for disposing of painting materials.
- A white primer base coat is recommended to enhance color vibrancy and ensure durability.
- Only use water-based or acrylic paints. Please refrain from using spray paint, oil-based enamels, oil-based primers, or chalk paint on campus.
- Masking or painter’s tape can be helpful for defining borders.
- If ordering stencils, confirm that they are suitable for pavement or parking lot surfaces.
- Coordinate with friends to split the cost of paint and supplies if painting together.
- Use rollers with long handles for applying base coats or large areas of color.
- Bring additional water and paper towels for clean-up.
- Although painting occurs in the evening to minimize pavement heat, it may still be warm. Students should stay hydrated, wear closed-toe shoes that can get paint on them, and bring a towel or a gardening/camping cushion to kneel or sit on if needed.
- Parents or guardians are welcome to bring folding chairs to observe.
- Please be respectful of MCISD property and other parking spaces, and ensure your area is cleaned after painting.
