Graduation 2024 Info

Class of 2024 Graduation Information
 
Who: MHS Seniors who have met all graduation requirements
Where:  Bernard Johnson Coliseum on the campus of Sam Houston State University
When: Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.
Tickets:  At this time, no tickets are required and all are welcome.
 
 
Graduates must report to the Recreational Sports Center across from the coliseum at 6 p.m. with their Graduation Gown and Cap/Tassel.
 
Students are not allowed to alter their cap or gown.  Students can only wear stoles, collars or cords given to them by MCISD.
Dress Code for HS Graduation  - Students who wish to participate in the ceremony must be properly dressed. Girls must wear dresses which do not exceed the length of the gown or slacks and appropriate colored shoes. Boys must wear dark-colored pants, light colored dress shirts, neck ties, and dark-colored shoes and socks. All graduation caps will be worn squarely on top of the head.  No messages or additional decorations and/or adornments will be allowed on the caps, gowns, or any part of the student’s person.  The campus administration has final discretion on the application of these graduation dress code guidelines.
 
New SHSU Bernard Coliseum Policies:
  • Clear bags must be under 12"X12"X6"
  • Unclear bags must be under 4.5"X6.5"
  • All bags are subject to search.
 
Security: The following items are prohibited:  No outside food or drinks, no umbrellas, not tripods, no large bags, no strollers, no tripods, no air-horns, no noise makers, no laser pointers, no weapons, no alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs, no e-cigarettes, no vapes or any device that mimics smoking, no pets, no wrapped gifts or presents, no banners  
 
Assisted Listening Devices: Assisted Listening Devices are available upon request from guest services located in coliseum office 235 for checkout. (Photocopy of Driver’s License needed)
 
Face Coverings: In accordance with CDC guidelines and the University’s COVID-19 Work Group, face coverings are no longer required, but recommended, along with social distancing, for those not vaccinated.
 
Elderly guest, special needs, and ADA Seating:  Elevator located on concourse level (across from gate 13) Seating on concourse level - wheelchair section O,M and N.  Seating on the floor level - designated wheelchair sections are roped off on the arena floor.  Ushers will direct you to seating (2 companions may accompany wheelchair or special needs guest on the floor.  Wheelchairs will not be provided and used only for transporting. ADA seating is on a first come, first serve basis. 
 
Restricted Access:  Parents/Guests are not permitted on the floor, unless seated in an ADA seating location. Guests may not stand or sit in the aisles during the event. 
Gates will open at 5 p.m. Family/Guests can enter in the following gates:
Gate 10 & 11 Northeast, Gate 16 & 17 Southeast,
Gate 22 & 23 Southwest
