Attendance

  • Student's signing IN/OUT
    • Any student who arrives late needs to sign in at the front desk, and receive a pass to the appropriate class.
    • Any student who needs to leave prior to the end of the day must be signed out by their parent/guardian. If the parent is unable to come in to the office prior arrangements must be made and verified before the student will be allowed to sign out. The student's parent/guardian may email permission for the student to sign out, however this should be received 2 hours prior to the time the student should be released. This is applicable to all students regardless of age or classification. While it may be inconvenient the student's well being is our top priority.
  • Tardiness
    • A student who is tardy to class may be disciplined according to the Madisonville CISD Student Code of Conduct. Repeated instances of tardiness will result in more severe disciplinary action, in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Documentation after an Absence
    • When a student is absent from school, the student—upon returning to school—must bring a note, signed by the parent that describes the reason for the absence. Please note that, unless the absence is for a statutorily allowed reason under compulsory attendance laws, the district is not required to excuse any absence. Notes must be received within 3 days of the absence to excuse absence.
  • Doctor’s Note after an Absence for Illness
    • Upon return to school, a student absent for more than five consecutive days because of a personal illness must bring a statement from a doctor or health clinic verifying the illness or condition that caused the student’s extended absence from school.
    • Should the student develop a questionable pattern of absences, the principal or attendance committee may require a statement from a doctor or health clinic verifying the illness or condition that caused the student’s absence from school.
  • Absences/Attendance
    • Regular school attendance is essential for a student to make the most of his or her education—to benefit from teacher-led and school activities, to build each day’s learning on the previous day’s, and to grow as an individual. Absences from class may result in serious disruption of a student’s mastery of the instructional materials; therefore, the student and parent should make every effort to avoid unnecessary absences.
